LOGIC INNOVATIONS LAUNCHES THE TRANSPORT STREAM
RE-MULTIPLEXER AT NAB2003

SAN DIEGO, CA-February 24, 2003--Logic Innovations the premier provider of products for the convergence of broadcast and Internet networks, today announced it will show the new TSM-1008, Transport Stream Re-multiplexer, at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB 2003) in booth SL2522. The TSM-1008 is an 8-input re-multiplexer, which provides increased bandwidth utilization and revenue opportunities in three different models for addressing ATSC, DVB and MPEG applications.

Logic Innovation's TSM-1008 offers datacasters, broadcasters, satellite operators and CATV companies the ability to re-multiplex MPEG-2 transport streams while providing extensive table processing support. The TSM-1008 blocks non-relevant programs and associated program data creating space for new or local programs. It combines up to eight HDTV, SDTV, PSIP, data and multi-program transport streams into a single multiplex for improving transponder efficiency. In ATSC applications, the TSM-1008 provides the interfaces to multiplex encoder, PSIP, video server and data sources into a single transport stream. It is robust enough to support the full DVB-ASI bandwidth utilization of 213 Mbps payload data rate.

"One of the biggest questions on peoples' minds at NAB2003 will be how they can get the most out of their bandwidth," said Charlie Mrdjenovich, president of Logic Innovations. "We are building on our strong lead in the area of re-multiplexing by providing customers with the ability to deliver high-quality video and audio while conserving bandwidth."

The TSM-1008 offers users a broad range of table processing capabilities and other valuable features to ensure smooth re-multiplexing. It provides universal "post insertion" to insert PSIP tables. The TSM re-stamps PCRs to the output multiplex. It re-brands virtual channel descriptors, including NIT content, and service editing. Users can change the output data rate to be equal to, or greater than the sum of the input program elements. The TSM-1008 supports automatic PID conflict resolution and it allows users the choice of automatic or manual PID remapping.

Logic Innovations has a history of developing easy to use products and the TSM-1008 is no exception. The TSM-1008 offers users a choice of three different options for control and management. The front panel of the TSM-1008 has the controls and display for local operation. A web-based graphical user interface is available that displays the table processing details. There is also a SNMP option for remote management of the TSM-1008.

Logic Innovations will also show other key products at NAB2003. Among their offerings will be the following products:

  • New Smart Transport Stream Switch (TSS)-which provides users automated, semi-seamless switching between transport streams, without the need to perform the time-consuming decoding and re-encoding of program materials.
  • IP Encapsulator models 2500 and 200L - which offer performance-based IP packet encapsulation into an MPEG-2 data stream for transmission of IP data over broadband networks.
  • Transport Stream Multiplexer, the TSM-1000A - which performs multiplexing and re-multiplexing of MPEG-2 transport streams to enhance bandwidth efficiency and increase revenue opportunities.
  • ASI Distribution Amplifier (ASI-DA)-a PCI card that provides ASI transport stream repeat/distribution while conserving equipment rack space and power.
  • Data Stream Transport System (DSTS)-a transport stream record and playback device that provides emergency back-up for digital transmission facilities.
